Celebrating 20 years
Think back 20 years, where were you?
It was 1990, Mandela had just been released, with a huge concert at Wembley to celebrate and East Germany was enjoying its first open elections; over in Moscow, McDonalds were just opening their first outlet. There was a new sense of freedom in the air…it was a time of change…
A time of change, too, for Janice Bate of Berkeley Bate, Chartered Accountants, who are celebrating their 20th Anniversary this summer with a party at the Victoria Art Gallery. “It’s hard to believe” says Janice “ it only seems like a couple of years since we celebrated our 15th Anniversary with a go-karting night…and as for twenty years ago, well, time has flown by, but it’s always been great fun!”
I asked Janice what the key to the success of Berkeley Bate has been and why the practice is so popular with clients, “Oh, that’s easy” she replied “ Clients become friends, so they feel free to talk openly about their businesses and what they’re trying to achieve; they often use us as a sounding board, talking out ideas knowing that they’ll be given an honest opinion and based on sound common sense! From my point of view, I just love people. I’m very pro-active, I keep in touch and I like to add value, making sure my clients watch their costs and maximise their bottom line, and then I like saving them as much tax as possible!”
And in 2030? Well, Berkeley Bate stands tall amongst Accountants: they’d be the first to tell you that they’re a small general practice, but what they offer owner-managers is first class service, reliable advice and an accountant you actually look forward to seeing.
